Religious Programs Specialist Seaman Michael A. Papineau, from Indianapolis, observes the refueling lines from the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) as it conducts a replenishment at sea with the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196).

Ashland is deployed as part of the Nassau Amphibious Ready Group with Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (NAS ARG/24th MEU) supporting maritime security operations and theater security operations efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
