14 марта на верфи в Суао на юге уезда Илань прошла церемония крещения головного стелс-корвета Tuo Chiang (Tuo River) (618) для ВМС Тайваня, сообщает congnghequocphong.blogspot.com. 

Всего по программе Hsun Hai (Swift Sea) планируется построить 12 таких кораблей, названных местными СМИ «убийцами авианосцев» (carrier-killer).

500-тонный корвет катамаранного типа может развивать скорость до 38 узлов (70 км/ч), дальность плавания составляет 2000 миль. 

Его скорость и малая радиолокационная заметность позволят корвету максимально близко приблизится к противнику, считают эксперты.

Длина корабля - 60,4 м, ширина - 14 м, экипаж - 41 человек. 

Вооружен противокорабельными ракетами Hsiung Feng II и Hsiung Feng III. (дальность стрельбы 150 км). 

Корпус выполнен из алюминиевого сплава, не восприимчив к магнитным минам.

Стоимость одного корабля составляет около NT $ 2,2 млрд. (72,5 млн. долл. США ) .

Головной корабль пройдет заключительные тесты, прежде чем он будет спущен на воду.

Как ожидается, его передача флоту намечена на первую половину 2015 года.

В 2011 году парламент Тайваня одобрил выделение 853,4 млн долларов на программу строительства 7-11 корветов. 

В настоящее время потребности флота составляют 12 корветов.

Стелс-корветы ВМС Тайваня должны противостоять ВМС Китая, который по разным оценкам готовится иметь после 2020-го года от четырёх до шести авианосных ударных групп, развёрнутых в Южно-Китайском и Восточно-Китайском морях.

Taiwan's first 'aircraft carrier killer' delivered

Taiwan's first stealthy missile corvette was christened Friday, a development that is expected to give the country's navy a capability to counter larger enemy warships.

The 500-ton Tuo River is the first of possibly 12 ships to be built locally under the Hsun Hai (Swift Sea) program.

The twin-hull corvette, described as a "carrier-killer" by local media, has a maximum speed of 38 knots (70 kilometers per hour) and a range of 2,000 nautical miles. Its speed and low radar signature allows the corvette to get close to enemy targets, experts said.

The ship, 60.4 meters in length and 14 meters wide, carries a crew of 41. 

Its armaments include eight Hsiung Feng II and eight Hsiung Feng III anti-ship missiles, an Otobreda 76 gun, four 12.7 mm machine guns and a MK15 phalanx close-in weapon system.

The christening ceremony was held indoors in Suao, Yilan County and the ship will undergo final tests and reviews before it is officially launched. It is expected to be deployed in the first half of 2015.

In 2011, the legislature approved a NT$24.98 billion (US$853.4 million) budget to fund the construction between seven and 11 corvettes but a fleet of 12 ships is now expected.

Legislator Lin Yu-fang of the ruling Kuomintang said the Navy relies mainly on higher tonnage ships, such as its Kidd-class destroyers, but these nearly 10,000-ton ships move relatively slowly and can be an obvious target at sea.

He noted that the combat area in the Taiwan Strait is not large, and does not need high-tonnage warships, which was the idea behind developing the corvette.

The Navy's 20 Kuang hua VI-class fast attack missile boats currently in service will serve during a transitional period in moving toward smaller ships.

The Kuang hua VI-class boat has a displacement of 186.5 tons and a maximum draught of 3 meters, while the Tuo Chiang has a deplacement of 500 tons and a maximum draught of 2.3 meters, allowing it to move easily in small fishing harbors, a feature that Lin touted, saying that the corvette could be hidden among fishing boats.
