Operation Odyssey Dawn. USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) (March 20, 2011)

Операция Odyssey Dawn, в которой участвовал USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) в марте 2011 года.

Это была военная операция Соединённых Штатов в рамках интервенции в Ливии сил международной коалиции. 

Проводилась по резолюции 1973 Совбеза ООН, предусматривавшей меры по защите мирного населения Ливии в ходе противостояния повстанцев и центральной власти М. Каддафи. 

Некоторые задачи, которые выполнял USS Kearsarge (LHD-3): 

EA-18G Growlers обеспечивал поддержку в области электронной борьбы над Ливией. 

AV-8B Harriers из 26-го экспедиционного подразделения морской пехоты проводил удары по наземным силам и системе ПВО Каддафи. 

Операция Odyssey Dawn была завершена 31 марта в связи с началом операции НАТО «Союзный защитник» (англ. Operation Unified Protector).

MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 21, 2011) 

A Harrier jet aircraft assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (26th MEU) returns to the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) for fuel and ammunition resupply while conducting air strikes supporting Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn. 

Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn is the U.S. Africa Command task force established to provide operational and tactical command and control of U.S. military forces supporting the international response to the unrest in Libya and enforcement of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1973.

U.S. Marine Corps AV/-8B Harrier jets launch from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) in preparation for Operation Odyssey Dawn missions. Later, an SH-60 Sea hawk helicopter, CH-53E Super Stallion, MV-22 Osprey and U.S. Marine Corps AV/-8B Harrier jets land on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) following Operation Odyssey Dawn missions.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 19, 2011)
